From Megan:
I officially received my Delta Propel CJO this week. Thanks for the encouragement from all you amazing women! Off to ATP soon to finish the ratings and then to Endeavor until I have the time required to come back to Delta as a first office
This is your webmistress Dani. In the beginning of October I attended the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta where I got to see a few 99s and associates! Naturally, I saw Karalyn (please check out the post about her being named Ambassador of the Day!!). As always, you should never miss an opportunity to crew for her, trust me, it’s fun. I was crewing for another balloon pilot friend, but here’s a picture of Karalyn taking off, of her flying over me another day, and one of us at a dinner event! I also saw Katie from the Reno Area Chapter (photo of her balloon only), scholarship recipient Moriah who was crewing for another Reno pilot, and on my way home from the event, I ran into none other than our Treasurer, Grace! (Sorry, no photo. We were dead tired and I plumb forgot.) We shared a SWA flight from Phoenix to Reno. What am amazing experience!
Congratulations to our Vice Chair Staci on earning her CFI certificate! So if you know someone interested in flight lessons…
At the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta yesterday, RHS 99 Karalyn was identified as the Ambassador of the Day. With well over 550 pilots in attendance this year, this recognition is significant!! Congratulations Karalyn!
The Reno High Sierra 99s Scholarship Committee has been hard at work! Thank you to our Scholarship Committee, and Sponsors. We are so very excited to announce that we’re offering $15,750 in scholarships this year!! Please visit our Scholarship page for more details.
From Rosella,

From Vice Chairman Stacie:
I flew to Yerington today to get cheap avgas (2.99!) and for their pancake breakfast! The best part was taking my good friend Laura! Afterwards we played in the sky. She let me practice teaching maneuvers. What a great day!
RHS 99 Tina went to Truckee today!
Every year the local chapter for Women in Aviation hosts their popular “Girls in Aviation” Day. Members of the aviation community gather to put on a spectacular and one of a kind introduction to aviation event, and a number of Reno High Sierra 99s volunteered! (Not all are pictured) Congrats to WAI on another successful presentation!
For some, September and October bring thoughts of fallen leaves, pumpkins, and Halloween. Here at RHS, it means Scholarship season is almost upon us! Check back regularly as we’ll be posting our scholarships soon!!!
Last weekend was full of aviation! First the Great Reno Balloon Race! RHS Member Karalyn flew Citrus in the Sky and the American Flag for the event on Sunday.
Also one of our Scholarship recipients was out working on her Ballooning skills!
Last but not least, the Carson City Open Airport event! Check out RHS member Laura at our booth! Thank you to everyone who volunteered!!
From RHS former Chairman Leah,
I haven’t flown since June but I’ve been able to do engine runs in the company’s Meridian every month while it awaits repairs. I’ll take what I can get 😂
From our Social Director -
(White) capping off the summer with some cooler temps
RHS members Stacie and Melissa took to the skies this morning to get some air time!!
While we were somewhat conflicted on who to root for (our home team or the Aviators) we nonetheless had a fantastic time at the Reno Ball Park! (The Aviators won) Thanks to RHS Social Director Tara for setting this up, and to everyone who attended!
Check out the group that met up for a photo! Can you name them all??
