Events

We have regularly schedule events - Monthly Chapter Business Meetings and a frequent Social Dinners at various local restaurants. Chapter business meetings are the 2nd Thursday of the Month, at 6 pm at Atlantic Aviation, Reno and also via Zoom.

Welcome to our Events Page

In addition to having our Chapter events posted here, we’ll try to keep this page updated with local or regional aviation events. The best way to identify what type of activity you’re looking at is to check out the logo. Chapter Business Meetings will have the RHS logo, Southwest Section events will use the SWS logo. Social events will use the colorful people with puzzle pieces logo, fundraising events will have the $ sign, and flying events will feature a cartoon woman flying a plane. All other evens will use the event logo. If you have an event you would like us to add, please let us know!

Join Brazos River Aviation Group (BRAG) and Gift Academy Inc. for a one-week ground school event designed for women in aviation of all skill levels, from new to aviation to instrument and commercial. Even rusty pilots are welcome for flight reviews! Flight training will also be available.
Your payment of $200 includes study materials for ground school, daily lunch and snacks, a T-shirt, and facility costs. Plus, we have exciting extras such as breakout sessions, focus groups, networking opportunities, and flight training with our Volunteer Certified Flight Instructors (as available). Flight instruction is free at this event, and you'll only need to cover the cost of the aircraft and fuel. We have C172 and C175 aircraft available, with a current lineup (subject to change) at $135 per hour. We'll post expected updates on aircraft, activities, and costs prior to and during the event.
Transportation is also available, and we'll help arrange group pickups from DFW and DAL. Mineral Wells is about an hour and 15-minute drive from DFW, and Crazy Water hotel has blocked rooms for booking for our event. Please note that hotel, breakfast, and dinner are not included in the payment.
This is a great opportunity to meet other women interested in aviation and create networking connections and friendships. Imagine sitting in a classroom with like-minded ladies!

Crazy Water Hotel booking link
Other Hotels in area also, Best Western, Days Inn, Super 8 and Red Lion. we do not at this time have a code with these hotels. Book your room soon if using one of them as other events will be in the area also.

We expect to have least 4 various aircraft for training ranging from C150/152 variations, c172 variations, C175 and possibly a C182. Other aircraft may be added as we get closer to event dates.
You do not have to attend each day. We understand scheduling overlaps may occur. just let us know once signed up.

There is a possibility that a Designated Pilot examiner will be available for the event and will likely request the last couple days of the event just for our attendees if we have any ready at that point. we will update that information as we get closer to the event also. we hope even if not available for actual checkride they can provide mock checkrides and some classroom time also.
Mineral Wells Airport is offering fuel discount for attendees or volunteers that will be bringing their own airplane. The airport has tie downs aplenty and will do their best accommodate hangar space for inclimate weather.
Our Instrument attendee will like having most all approaches available at this airport, but also outside the busiest of the airspace.
For our history buffs this area was previously connected to Fort Wolters which provided helicopter training for the Army. many Vietnam vet helicopter pilots trained at Fort Wolters.
Which BTW we have the option for helicopter lessons at this gift event. Contact BRAG for more information on helicopter training.
